Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) held a special graduation ceremony on Saturday for twelve international students, marking the university’s second graduating class of foreign students.
The ceremony saw students from six different countries – Uganda, Nepal, Bhutan, Lesotho, Burundi, and Somalia – receive their degrees in various programs including B.Tech, M.Tech, BBA, MBA, and BBA LLB.
Congratulating the graduates, SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda presented the degrees and highlighted the university’s commitment to providing a platform for both academic and holistic development.
“You are graduating from the 14th best university in the country,” Prof. Nanda said, referencing the university’s recent ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework. “Be proud of your alma mater and serve as its brand ambassador when you return to your home countries,” he further encouraged the graduating students.
The ceremony also featured acceptance speeches from two Ugandan graduates, Mr. Murungi John (M.Tech in Structural Engineering) and Ms. Mawombe Shallon (B.Tech in Civil Engineering).
Faculty members including Prof. Manjula Das (Controller of Examination), Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout (Dean of Institute of Agricultural Sciences), Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray (Dean of Institute of Business and Computer Studies), Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das (Dean of Students’ Welfare), Prof. Renu Sharma (Additional Dean of Student Affairs, ITER), Prof. Prabir Patnaik (Professor at SOA National Institute of Law), and Prof. Nachieketa K. Sharma (Director, University Outreach Program) were present at the ceremony.
