Over 500 academic administrators and college principals gathered at Utkal University to learn about implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Bhubaneswar, Odisha: A significant capacity development program for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was held at Utkal University on Tuesday. Organized by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in collaboration with the university, the event brought together over 500 academic administrators and college principals from across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Odisha’s Higher Education Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj, emphasized the importance of rediscovering India’s true history. He highlighted NEP 2020 as a top priority for the state government, noting its central role in the educational roadmap. The minister commended the universities and their faculty for their swift adaptation of syllabi aligned with the policy’s principles.
Advocating for the use of mother tongue in education, the minister delivered his speech in Odia. He emphasized that this allowed him to be more honest and true to himself. The minister concluded by asserting that NEP 2020 is crucial for “state and nation building.”
Distinguished dignitaries, including Vice Chancellors of Utkal University, NIEPA, and other institutions, graced the event. Sabita Acharya, Vice Chancellor of Utkal University, highlighted the university’s initiatives towards NEP 2020 implementation, while Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor of NIEPA, elaborated on the policy’s framework for holistic student development.
The event underscored the commitment of the Odisha government and educational institutions to the successful implementation of NEP 2020, which aims to transform the education landscape in the state.
